2018 (1) TMI 1177 - SC - Indian Laws

Issues: Boundary determination between Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh

Analysis:
The Supreme Court of India, comprising Justices Madan B. Lokur and Deepak Gupta, issued an order regarding the coordination for determining the boundary between the States of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. The Court directed the Surveyor General of India and his team to work with the Chief Secretaries of both states in this regard. The Court emphasized that the exercise should ideally be completed within a 12-week period, with a follow-up listing scheduled after the specified time frame. Notably, in case of any disputes arising during the demarcation process, the Surveyor General is entrusted with making the final decision to resolve such disagreements. This judgment aims to facilitate a smooth and conclusive resolution to the boundary issue between Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, ensuring clarity and accuracy in demarcating the state borders.
