Difficulty in paying accumulated demands. - Income Tax - 927/CBDT

INSTRUCTION NO. 927/CBDT Dated : February 28, 1976 It has been represented to the Board that considerable hardship is being caused to assessees as a result of Wealth-tax assessments remaining pending for a long time. It has been stated that assessments for several years are completed at a stretch and the assessees find it difficult to pay the accumulated demands. 2. The Board desire that every effort should be made to dispose of the wealth-tax assessments for and up to the assessment year 1971-72, without any further delay. All Inspecting Assistant Commissioners should be made responsible for ensuring that no such assessments remain pending, except for valid reasons, beyond 30th June, 1976.
