Powers for printing charges. - Income Tax - 1135/CBDT

INSTRUCTION NO. 1135/CBDT Dated : January 9, 1978 Section(s) Referred: 256(2) Statute: Income - Tax Act, 1961 Board has received queries from some Commissioners whether powers for local printing delegated to Commissioners of Income-tax and Directors of Inspection which were extended upto 31st March, 1978 vide Ministry of Works and Housing letter No.L.15013/1/72-PI/Ptg., dated 21st March, 1977 have also been withdrawn under O.M.No.L-15020/4/77-OP dated 30th March, 1977 of the Director of Printing which was circulated by the Department of Revenue Banking (Revenue Wing) under F.No.D-29011/1/77-Coord dated 18th April, 1977. A clarification was sought from Director of Printing in the matter who has informed that the above Office Memorandum dated 18th April, 1977 of the Director of Printing has no application in respect of the powers delegated to the Commissioners of Income-tax and Directors of Inspection. This may please be noted. It is also clarified that the powers for printing charges of Rs.10,000 are exclusive of the cost of paper and stationery and cover only the printing charges. The expenditure incurred so far may, therefore, be reviewed in the light of the above clarifications.
