Changes in minor/sub heads to avoid any mistakes in accounting of receipts of Direct Taxes. - Income Tax - 1203/CBDT

INSTRUCTION NO. 1203/CBDT Dated : September 14, 1978 The question of rationalising the major, minor and sub-heads of accounts of receipts of Direct Taxes has been examined in consultation with the Department of Economic affairs, Controller General of accounts and the C AG of India. Keeping in view the requirements of accounting of the Central Government and the managerial needs of the Income-tax Department the minor and sub-heads of accounts for accounting of receipts of Direct Taxes, which have undergone changes are given in the enclosed list. 2. They will take effect from the financial year 1978-79. 3. Pending formal amendments of the proformae of D CR and refund register suitable changes may kindly be made in these registers so that the collections/refunds can be reported under the modified account heads. 4. The revised proforma of the detailed accounts statement will be sent to you by the C.C.A separately. 5. Guidance notes indicating interalia the changes in the existing minor/sub heads are also enclosed which should be carefully studied by the officers and the staff to avoid any mistakes in the accounting of the receipts of Direct Taxes.
