Amendment of para 7 of Board's letter F.No. 375/69/72-IT(B), dated 26.7.72. - Income Tax - 1250/CBDT

INSTRUCTION NO. 1250/CBDT Dated : April 11, 1979 Reference is invited to Board's letter No. 16c/82/69-IT, dated the 22nd December, 1969 and subsequent amendment of para 7 of that letter by Board's letter F.No. 375/69/72-IT(B), dated 26.7.72 on the above subject. 2. In view of the enhancement of monetary limit of the powers of write off of tax arrears from Rs.2,000/- to Rs.10,000/- by Inspecting Assistant Commissioners of Income-tax, it has been decided by the Board that the Inspecting Assistant Commissioners may, now, write off the irrecoverable arrear demands upto an amount of Rs.10,000/- under their own powers without referring the case to the Local Committee consisting of the Commissioner of Income-tax concerned. 3. These instructions may be brought to the notice of all the officers working under your charge.
