Utilization of survey u/s 133B and CIB reports. - Income Tax - 1876/1991Extract INSTRUCTION NO. 1876/1991 Dated: January 7, 1991 The statistics relating to Survey, CIB and New Assessees' are being furnished in Proforma I and Proforma II by the Chief Commissioners of Income-tax and the Directors General (Inv.), respectively, in accordance with Board's letter F.No. 415/24/87-IT (Inv.I) dated 18.8.1989. 2. However, the aforesaid statistics do not give the results of utilization of reports of survey under section 133B and reports of CIB verification. For proper monitoring of this area of work, it has been decided to obtain a feed-back from the Assessing Officers about the actual utilisation of survey and CIB reports sent by the Investigation Wing. For this purpose, the format of the report in Proforma I has been modified. Consequently the format of the report in Proforma II has also been slightly modified. The revised formats of Proforma I and Proforma II are enclosed. 3. The register of 'Survey and CIB verification', as prescribed by the Board's Instruction No. 1874 dated 7.1.91 issued vide F. No. 414/35/90-IT (Inv.I), should be utilized by the Assessing Officers for giving information in Part C of the revised Proforma I. 4. It may be noted that the figures in respect of new assessees added to be furnished in Part A of Proforma I, will continue to be furnished in respect of all new assessees who have filed returns of income/wealth. 5. The Assessing Officers should send the monthly reports in Proforma I to the Commissioners of Income-tax/range Deputy Commissioners. The Commissioners should consolidate the reports in respect of their charges and send them to the concerned Chief Commissioners, who in turn will send the consolidated report in respect of their regions to the Board. Similarly, the Directors of Income-tax (Inv.) will send their consolidated reports in Proforma II to their respective Directors General (Inv.), who in turn will send the consolidated report to the Board alongwith DIT-wise break up of the figures. 6. The Chief Commissioners and the Directors General (Inv.) should adopt the revised proformae for the month of January, 1991 onwards and send the consolidated monthly report in respect of their regions in Proforma-I and Proforma-II, respectively, so as to reach the Board by the 7th of the succeeding month.
