Amendment to Notification No. 12/89-C.E. (N.T.) [Rule 71]

Notification No. 26/89-C.E. (N.T.)

In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 37 of the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944 (1 of 1944), the Central Government hereby makes the following amendment in the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) No. 12/89-Central Excises (N.T.), dated the 1st March, 1989, namely :-

In the said notification, -

(i) for rule 5, the following rule shall be substituted, namely :-

"5. In rule 71 of the said rules, with effect from 1st day of July, 1989, -

(a) in sub-rule (2), for the words "whether one or more than one of gross of boxes or booklets of matches", the words "whether one hundred boxes or booklets of matches or multiples thereof shall be substituted;

(b) in sub-rule (4), for the words "gross of boxes or booklets", the words "boxes or booklets in hundreds" shall be substituted;";

(ii) in rule 6, for the figures, letters and words "1st day of June, 1989", the figures, letters and words "1st day of July, 1989" shall be substituted.
