Central Excise (3rd Amendment) Rules, 1987

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 37 of the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944 (1 of 1944), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Central Excise Rules, 1944, namely :-

1. (1) These rules may be called the Central Excise (3rd Amendment) Rules, 1987.

(2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.

 2. In the Central Excise Rules, 1944, in rule 2, in clause (ii), in sub-clause (A), for item (Y), the following item shall be substituted, namely :-

"(Y) in the districts of Tiruchirapally (except Karur taluk), Thanjavur, Pudukottai and the talukas of Cuddalore, Panrutti, Chidambaram, Kattumannarkoil, Vridhachalam, Tittakudi and Vanur Firka of Tindivanam taluk of South Arcot district (including Neyveli Lignite Corporation area) of the State of Tamil Nadu, and in the Union Territory of Pondicherry (excluding Mahe Commune and the territory of Yanam of the Union Territory of Pondicherry), the Collector of Central Excise, Tiruchirapalli;"
