In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-rule (2) of rule 49 and rule 139 of the Central Excise Rules, 1944, the Central Government hereby makes the following further amendment in the notification of the Govern­ment of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue and Insurance) No. 266/67-Central Excises, dated the 28th November, 1967, namely :-

In clause (i) of paragraph 2 of the said notification, for Item (u), the following item shall be substituted, namely :-

"(u) Thane District;"
