Exemption to specified catalysts

Notification No. 38/87-C.E.

In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-rule (1) of rule 8 of the Central Excise Rules, 1944, the Central Government hereby exempts catalysts of any of the metals specified in the Table below, falling under sub-heading No. 2843.00 of the Schedule to the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985 (5 of 1986) and manufactured out of used or spent catalysts of such metals, from so much of the duty of excise leviable thereon which is specified in the said Schedule as is in excess of the duty calculated with reference to the value of material, if any, added and the amount charged for such manufacture.

Explanation - For the purposes of this notification, "catalyst" shall include compounds of the metals for making such catalysts.
