Exemption to specified items imported by registered exporters of gem and jewellery Notification No. 99/87-Cus. Dated 1-3-1987 In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 25 of the Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962), the Central Government, being satisfied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, hereby makes the following amendments in the Notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) No. 159/86-Customs, dated the 1st March, 1986, namely:- In the said notification, - (a) the words, figures and brackets "and falling within Chapter 82, 84, 85 or 90 of the First Schedule of the Customs Tariff Act, 1975 (51 of 1975)" shall be omitted; (b) after the word "artisans", the words "and used in the processing and manufacture of gem and jewellery for the purpose of export" shall be inserted; (c) for the words "which is specified in the said First Schedule as is in excess of the amount calculated at the rate of twenty-five per cent ad valorem ", the words, figures and brackets "which is specified in the First Schedule to the Customs Tariff Act, 1975 (51 of 1975), as is in excess of the amount calculated at the rate of thirty-five per cent ad valorem ", shall be substituted; (d) for the words and figures "said Customs Tariff Act, 1975", the following words shall be substituted, namely :- "said Customs Tariff Act : Provided that the importer furnishes an undertaking to the effect that the said imported goods shall be used for the purpose specified above and in the event of his failure to comply with the aforesaid conditions, he shall be liable to pay an amount equal to the difference between the duty leviable on the said imported goods but for the exemption contained herein and that already paid at the time of import ation."; (e) in the Table, after Serial No. 74 and the entry relating thereto, the following Serial Nos. and entries shall be inserted, namely :- Sl. Cold pressure welding apparatus and its dies for the welding wire and strip. 86. Special soldering powders for chain soldering in automatic chain plant. 87. Solder Dispensers. 88. Carat solders and carat solder paste. 89. Micro or hand held motor with or without suction device. 90. All tools to operate on micro or hand held motors. 91. Hand tools or kits for jewellery making. 92. Fusion welders or butt welders with accessories. 93. Engraving machine for jewellers and its accessories. 94. Ultrasonic or laser drilling machines. 95. Laser Welding machine for Auto Chain machines. 96. CNC or Microprocessor based facetting machines. 97. Hydraulic and pneumatic pressed for making jewellery parts, findings and sockets. 98. Moulds for Hydraulic and pneumatic presses. 99. Prescious and non-precious salts, solutions brightners and compounds for electroplating. 100. All sorts and forms of media and compounds for polishing machines. 101. Grinding box. 102. Precious metal recovery system and apparatus. 103. Refining system and apparatus for small quantity refining. 104. Chemicals filters required for refining and recovery system. 105. Micro torch. 106. Non-gold containing alloys for making carat gold alloys. 107. Following accessories and consumables for casting process :- (i) Vulcanising Press. (ii) Wax injectors.
