2018 (7) TMI 113 - SCH - CustomsBail Application - accused appellant has been in custody for a period of over 26 months as on date on a charge of commission of offence under Section 135 of the Customs Act, 1962 - Held that - The period of custody suffered by the accused appellant; the fact that co-accused has also been granted bail, we are inclined to release the appellant on bail - the appellant is ordered to be released on bail to the satisfaction of the Learned Special Chief Judicial Magistrate, Meerut - application allowed.
The Supreme Court granted bail to the accused appellant who had been in custody for over 26 months under Section 135 of the Customs Act, 1962. The co-accused had already been granted bail. The appellant was ordered to be released on bail to the satisfaction of the Special Chief Judicial Magistrate in Meerut with appropriate conditions. The High Court's order was set aside.
