Centralisation of service tax work at Headquarters Office of Mumbai-V Commissionerate - Service Tax - Trade Notice No. 23 /99 - Mumbai V

Attention is invited to Trade Notice No. 38/(S. Tax) 1/98, dated 14-9-1998 regarding decentralisation of Service tax work from Commissionerate Headquarter Office to Divisional Headquarters. 2. The decentralisation of Administrative work of service tax at Divisional Headquarters offices created administrative inconvenience for the department as well as the assessees. 3. In view of the above, the matter has been reconsidered by the Board and it has been decided that the service tax work should be administered from headquarters office of the Commissionerate having jurisdiction over metro-cities, keeping in view efficient administration of service tax work as well as convenience of the assessees. For any difficulties the trade in particular the service tax assessee may contact the Assistant Commissioner, Service tax and/or the Superintendent, Service tax on 8 th floor, Piramal Chambers, Lalbaug, Mumbai-400 012. 4. All the assessees under service tax may file their applications for registration/returns etc., with the above said office. The Trade Notice shall come into effect from 1st July, 1999.
