Sir, The standard operating procedure for appeal in case of import clearance by FSSAI is as under: 1. The samples from the imported food consignments are drawn at the custom bonded warehouse by the Technical Officers of FSSAI in the presence of CHA/Importer. The samples are drawn from the consignments after visual inspection of physical condition and appropriate labelling as per regulation. 2. The samples are sent for testing to the NABL accredited notified labs for testing. 3. The importer has an option to file an appeal against the test results of notified lab. 4. The importer can submit his appeal to the Authorised Officer to send the second sample for testing to the referral lab. The decision on this appeal is taken by the Authorised Officer 5. The importer can file an appeal against the order of Authorised Officer regarding the consignment to the Director (Imports) at FSSAI, Head Quarter. 6. The order of the Authorised Officers is examined by the Imports Division in consultation with other divisions of the organization and the final outcome in the appeal is communicated to the Authorised Officer. 7.
