Date: 24.07.2019 PUBLIC NOTICE NO. 12/2019 Sub: Empanelment of Chartered Engineers for Examination /Valuation of Second hand machinery / goods, etc. - Reg. Attention of Importers / Custom Brokers / Custodians / Shipping Agents / Trade and Public is invited to the Public Notice No. 10/2019 dated 20.06.2019 inviting applications for empanelment of Chartered Engineers for Examination / Valuation of Second hand machinery / goods. 2. In this connection, based on the sound academic background and expertise / experience in the Valuation of Second hand machinery, the following Chartered Engineers are empanelled for the valuation and examination of Second hand machineries of Textile I Printing / Electrical / General and Agriculture Goods at Tuticorin Port: SL. The Chartered Engineers empanelled by the Commissioner of Customs, Tuticorin, are required to prepare their report with Professional expertise, integrity and fairness and as per the CBIC Circulars/ Instructions, after verification of goods. They are further required to submit yearly Self Appraisal Report containing the full description of the machinery examined by them and the value appraised by them and submit the same to the Commissioner of Customs, Tuticorin, before 30th April of every financial year so as to assess their performance and to decide as to whether they are fit for continuing in the panel of Chartered Engineers for the next year. This panel is valid for a period of one year and will be reviewed thereafter. 4 If self appraisal is not submitted in time or found involved in any offence relating to Customs classification/valuation etc., their empanelment is liable to be cancelled. 5 The importers / Trade I Custom Brokers may make use of the services of any of the empanelled Chartered Engineer who have requisite specialization in that field / faculty for assisting the Customs Department for valuing the machinery / goods referred by the Customs Department. The service charges shall be borne by the importers. At the same time, the certificate issued by the empanelled engineer will be advisory in nature and shall not be binding on the Department. 6. The above Empanelled Chartered Engineers would be in addition to the Chartered Engineers Empanelled vide this office Public Notice No. 18/2018 dated 18.06.2018, Public Notice No.31/2016 dated 08.08.2016 as amended vide Public Notice No. 32/2017 dated 18.09.2017 and 38/2017 dated 27.10.2017. 7.
