No. 262/2/2007-CX.8 Dated 6-6-2007 Government of India Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) Central Board of Excise Customs, New Delhi Subject : Exemption to Readymade Garments from CESS under Textile Committee Act, 1963 - Regarding. In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 5E of the Textiles Committee Act, 1963 (41 of 1963), the Central Government, being of the opinion that in the public interest it is necessary so to do, hereby exempts the ready made garments, being a variety of textiles from the levy of whole of the cess, for the purposes of this Act, a duty of excise leviable under Section 5A of the said Act, with effect from the date of publication of this notification.
