Appellate officers asked to devote one day in a week for WT, GT and ED cases. - Income Tax - 1461/CBDTExtract INSTRUCTION NO. 1461/CBDT Dated: March 28, 1982 Recently the Estimates committee of the parliament had observed:- i) That Appellate officers should meet at various places in their jurisdiction in rotation to dispose of appeals pertaining to the respective places; and ii) that Appellate authorities should earmark at least one day in a week to hear WT, GT and ED appeals. 2. As regards at i) above, the committee has been informed that the Appellate officers of the department i.e. AAG/CsIT(A) posted in moffusil areas generally have appeals at different pleas by holding camp offices for the purpose. It is therefore impressed upon the first appellate authorities that they should camp at various places in their jurisdiction in rotation to dispose of appeals in the respective places so that appellants may not be inconvenienced. 3. Another suggestion of the committee is that the first appellate authorities who give priority to income-tax appeals and neglect wealth-tax etc. appeals should earmark one day in each week to hear WT, GT and ED appeals. This suggestion is brought to the notice of each appellate authority for meticulous compliance. 4. The above instructions may please be brought to the notice of all the Appellate commissioners in your charge for strict compliance.
