Central Government de-notifies an area of 1.716 hectares, thereby making resultant area of the Special Economic Zone as 119.788 hectares at State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu Industrial Growth Centre, Sriperumbudur Taluk, Kancheepuram District, in the State of Tamil Nadu - S.O. 1913 (E) - Special Economic Zone

MINISTRY OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY (Department of Commerce) (SEZ DIVISION) NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 21st April, 2022 S.O. 1913(E). - Whereas, M/s. State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu Limited had proposed under section 3 of the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005 (28 of 2005) , (hereinafter referred to as the said Act) to set up a Special Economic Zone for electronic hardware and related support services including trading and logistics operations at State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu Industrial Growth Centre, Sriperumbudur Taluk, Kancheepuram District, in the State of Tamil Nadu; AND, WHEREAS, the Central Government, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 4 of the said Act read with rule 8 of the Special Economic Zones Rules 2006 , had notified an area of 140.755 hectares and subsequently, de-notified two areas of 7.111 hectares and 12.14 hectares at the above Special Economic Zone vide Ministry of Commerce and Industry Notifications Number S.O. 1784(E) dated 18th October, 2007 and S.O. 6065(E) dated 03rd December, 2018 and S.O. 1879(E) dated 10th September, 2020 respectively; AND, WHEREAS, M/s. State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu Limited has now proposed for de-notification of 1.716 hectares from the above Special Economic Zone; AND, WHEREAS, the State Government of Tamil Nadu has given its approval to the proposal vide letter No. 10907/MIE.2/2021-1 dated 03rd December, 2021; AND, WHEREAS, the Development Commissioner, MEPZ Special Economic Zone has recommended the proposal for de-notification of an area of 1.716 hectares of the Special Economic Zone. Further, the Developer has already allotted the vacant land proposed to be de-notified ad-measuring 1.716 hectares (4.24 acres) in the SEZ area to the Unit namely M/s. BYD India Pvt. Ltd., which is functioning as a DTA Unit in the already de-notified area; NOW, WHEREAS, the Central Government is satisfied that the requirements under sub-section (8) of section 3 of the said Act and other related requirements are fulfilled; NOW, THEREFORE, in exercise of the powers conferred by second proviso to sub-section (1) of section 4 of the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005 and in pursuance of rule 8 of the Special Economic Zones Rules, 2006 , the Central Government hereby de-notifies an area of 1.716 hectares, thereby making resultant area of the Special Economic Zone as 119.788 hectares.
