Launch vehicles - Systems and sub-systems - Amendment to Notification No. 405/86-C.E. [G.E. No. 31]

Notification No. 267/87-C.E.

In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-rule (1) of rule 8 of the Central Excise Rules, 1944, the Central Government hereby makes the following amendment in the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) No. 405/86-Central Excises, dated the 8th September, 1986, namely :-

In the said notification, in the proviso, for Clauses (ii) and (iii), the following clauses shall be substituted, namely :-

"(ii)   the manufacturer produces, before the clearances of the said systems and sub-systems, a certificate from an officer not below the rank of an Assistant Scientific Secretary in the Indian Space Research Organisation giving the description and quantity of each type of the said such systems and sub-systems for which the exemption under this notification is claimed and certifying that such systems and sub-systems are intended for use in a launch vehicle project or a satellite project mentioned in Clause (i) above; and

(iii) the manufacturer produces, within five months from the date of clearance or within such extended period as the Assistant Collector of Central Excise may allow in this regard, a certificate from an officer not below the rank of an Assistant Scientific Secretary in the Indian Space Research Organisation indicating the date of receipt of such systems and sub-systems by that Organisation and certifying that such systems and sub-systems have been actually used in a launch vehicle project or a satellite project mentioned in Clause (i) above."
