Baggage (Amendment) Rules, 1994 - Rules 3 and 4 amended - Value restriction on wrist watch withdrawn Notification No. 29/94-Cus. (N.T.) Dated 15-6-1994 In exercise of the powers conferred by section 79 of the Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules to amend the Baggage Rules, 1994, namely :- 1. (1) These rules may be called the Baggage (Amendment) Rules, 1994. (2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. 2. In the Baggage Rules, 1994, - (i) in Chapter II, - (a) for the rule 3 and the entry relating thereto, the following shall be substituted, namely :- "3. Chapter to apply to residents. - Except as otherwise provided in these rules, the provisions of this Chapter shall not apply to any person except residents who arrive from any country other than Nepal or Bhutan : Provided that the provision of rule 4 and rule 5 shall also apply to foreign citizens (other than citizens of Nepal or Bhutan) who are residing in India."; (b) In rule 4, the words "of value not exceeding five hundred rupees" shall be omitted; (ii) in Appendix A, for item number 4 and the entry relating thereto, the following shall be substituted, namely :- "4. Alcoholic liquor and wines in excess of one litre each."
