Commissionerate of Service Tax, Delhi issues demands for more than Rs 355 Crores in the month of April, 2008 |

The Commissionerate of Service Tax issued 34 major Show Cause cum demand Notices during the month of April, 2008 for an amount exceeding Rs.355 Crores. The demands are in addition to the demand notices issued by the jurisdictional Assistant Commissioners and Dy. Commissioners at their level. These demands were issued based on the investigations conducted by the Anti-Evasion and Audit wings of the Commissionerate. The major demands issued by the anti evasion branch include the demand of Rs.32.71 Crores to M/s Confederation of Indian Industry, demands of Rs.29 Crores to M/s KPMG group of Entities, Rs.17 Crores to M/s Nestle India Ltd., Rs.14.64 Crores to M/s Cox & King India Pvt. Ltd., Rs. 8.59 Crores to Airport Authority of India, Rs.8.28 Crores to M/s Master Card International and Rs.7.12 Crores against M/s Thomas Cook India Pvt. Ltd.. The major demands issued by the audit wing of the Commissionerate include the demand of Rs.129 Crores to M/s Microsoft Corporation Ltd., Rs.46.26 Crores to M/s Bharti Airtel, Rs.15.66 crores to M/s Zee Turner Ltd., Rs.4.93 crores to M/s Vodafone Essar Mobile Services Ltd., Rs.3.62 crores to M/s Sercon (I) Ltd. and Rs.2.78 Crores to M/s Kidstuff. |
