If the Coimbatore officers were to proceed with the assessment without access to the seized materials, it would be difficult for them to complete a fair assessment. The respondents rightly transferred the cases from Coimbatore to Kolkata, as the Kolkata officers had seized incriminating materials related to the petitioners' involvement in the lottery business and potential tax evasion within their jurisdiction. Consequently, the court dismissed the writ petitions, finding no merit in the petitioners' challenges to the transfer notification.
