CBIC Revises Tariff Values Under Section 14(2) for Edible Oils, Brass Scrap, Gold, Silver and Areca Nuts

CBIC, exercising powers under Section 14(2) of the Customs Act, 1962, has revised tariff values for specified imported goods through Notification No. 17/2025-Customs (N.T.) dated March 28, 2025. The notification amends the earlier Notification No. 36/2001-Customs (N.T.) by substituting new tariff values in three tables covering: edible oils (including palm oil variants and soya bean oil), brass scrap, precious metals (gold at US$984 per 10 grams and silver at US$1102 per kilogram), and areca nuts. These revised valuations, which serve as the base for calculating customs duties, will take effect from March 29, 2025. .....
