High Court orders release of 700 seized sugar bags to importer as goods perishable; directs importer to apply for release within 4 days.

The HC directed the respondent-Customs authorities to release the consignment of 700 bags of seized sugar to the petitioner, as the goods were perishable. The petitioner was advised to approach the Adjudicating Officer with a proper application u/s 110(1-A) of the Customs Act, 1962 within 4 days. The Adjudicating Officer was directed to decide on the release, preferably within 10 days of receiving the application, after following the principles of natural justice.
