The High Court at Calcutta issued a Rule in 1984 regarding customs duty payment for imported plastic film. The petitioners were required to pay 50% of additional duty upfront and provide security for the remaining 50%. The court found the petitioners not exempt from additional duty and discharged the Rule, allowing customs authorities to encash the bank guarantee. Port Trust Authorities were entitled to rent as per the Major Port Trust Act. No costs were awarded.
