Deduction u/s 80DD - contempt petition arises out of an order passed by this Court 2019 (1) TMI 226 - SUPREME COURT wherein writ petition disposed by urging upon respondent No. 1 to have a relook into this provision by taking into consideration all the aspects, including those highlighted by the Court in this judgment, and explore the possibility of making suitable amendments - HELD THAT - Admittedly, the Union of India has now amended Section 80DD of the Income Tax Act, 1961 via the Budget of 2022-2023. Therefore, to a great extent, the grievance of persons like the petitioner stands redressed, though with prospective effect. We do not think that a case of contempt is made out against the Life Insurance Corporation of India or its officers. If the petitioner has any other grievance, it cannot be ventilated through contempt petition. Therefore, this contempt petition is closed.
