SECURITIES AND EXCHANGE BOARD OF INDIA NOTIFICATION Mumbai, the 14th November, 1998 SECURITIES AND EXCHANGE BOARD OF INDIA (BUY BACK OF SECURITIES) REGULATIONS, 1998 S.O. 975 (E). In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-sections (1) and (2) of section 11 and section 30 of the Securities and Exchange Board of India Act, 1992 (15 of 1992) read with clause (f) of sub-section (2) of section 77A of the Companies Act, 1956 (1 of 1956), as inserted by 1 [the Companies (Amendment) Act, 1999 (21 of 1999) ] , the Board hereby makes the following regulations, namely:- CHAPTER I PRELIMINARY Short title and commencement 1. (a) These regulations shall be called the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Buy Back of Securities) Regulations, 1998. (b) These regulations shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. ********** 1 Substituted for the words the Companies (Amendment) Ordinance, 1998 (19 of 1998) by the SEBI (Buy-back of Securities) (Amendment) Regulations, 1999, w.e.f. 21-09-1999.
