Clause 1 - Short title extent and commencement. - The Code on Wages, 2019

MINISTRY OF LAW AND JUSTICE (Legislative Department) New Delhi, the 8th August, 2019/Shravana 17, 1941 (Saka) The following Act of Parliament received the assent of the President on the 8th August, 2019, and is hereby published for general information:- THE CODE ON WAGES, 2019 NO. 29 OF 2019 [8th August, 2019.] An Act to amend and consolidate the laws relating to wages and bonus and matters connected therewith or incidental thereto. BE it enacted by Parliament in the Seventieth Year of the Republic of India as follows:- CHAPTER I PRELIMINARY Short title, extent and commencement. 1. (1) This Act may be called the Code on Wages, 2019. (2) It extends to the whole of India. (3) It shall come into force on such date as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette appoint; and different dates may be appointed for different provisions of this Code and any reference in any such provision to the commencement of this Code shall be construed as a reference to the coming into force of that provision.
