Section 1 - Short title and commencement - Taxation Laws (Amendment) Act, 1984Extract MINISTRY OF LAW, JUSTICE AND COMPANY AFFAIRS (Legislative Department) New Delhi, the 14th September, 1984/Bhadra 23, 1906 (Saka) The following Act of Parliament received the assent of the President on the 14th September, 1984, and is hereby published for general information: THE TAXATION LAWS (AMENDMENT) ACT, 1984 No. 67 OF 1984 [14th September, 1984.] An Act further to amend the Income-tax Act, 1961, the wealth-tax Act, 1957, the Gift-tax Act, 1958, the Companies (Profits) Surtax Act, 1964, the Compulsory Deposit Scheme (Income-tax Payers) Act, 1974, and the Interest-tax Act, 1974. BE it enacted by Parliament in the Thirty-fifth Year of the Republic of India as follows: - CHAPTER I PRELIMINARY 1. Short title and commencement. (1) This Act may be called the Taxation Laws (Amendment) Act, 1984. (2) Section 84 of this Act shall come into force on the 1st day of October, 1984, and, save as otherwise provided, the remaining provisions of this Act shall come into force on the 1st day of April, 1985.
