Section 1 - Short title, extent and commencement - Prohibition Of Benami Property Transactions Act, 1988

The Prohibition of Benami Property Transactions Act, 1988 [45 OF 1988] [AS AMENDED UP TO DATE] An Act to prohibit benami transactions and the right to recover property held benami and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto. BE it enacted by Parliament in the Thirty-ninth Year of the Republic of India as follows:- Short title, extent and commencement. 1. 1 [ (1) This Act may be called the Prohibition of Benami Property Transactions Act, 1988 . ] (2) It extends to the whole of India 2 [ **** ] . (3) The provisions of sections 3, 5 and 8 shall come into force at once, and the remaining provisions of this Act shall be deemed to have come into force on the 19th day of May, 1988. ********** Notes:- 1.
