CHA operating in Mumbai Customs Zone written examination under Regulation-8 of the CHALR – 2004 - Customs - 98/2006

PUBLIC NOTICE No.-98/2006 Date : 06/07/2006 CHA operating in Mumbai Customs Zone written examination under Regulation-8 of the CHALR 2004 will be held on 07/08/2006. It is hereby notified for the information of all the Customs House Agents operating in Mumbai Customs Zone that written examination under Regulation-8 of the Custom House Agents Licensing Regulations (CHALR) 2004 will be held on 07/08/2006. I. The persons who are employees, partners or directors of licensed CHAs and nominated by the concerned CHA are eligible to appear for the Regulation 8 Examination as per CHALR-2004 . Such nominees should possess the following educational qualification : (a) Graduate from a recognized university and possess a professional degree viz. C.A./MBA/LLB/Diploma in Customs Clearance work from any Institute or University recognized by the Government with a working knowledge of computers and customs procedures, or; (b) Graduate having at least three years experience in transacting Custom House Agent work as a G-Card holder, or; (c) Retired Group A officer from the Indian Customs and Central Excise Service (IC CES) having a minimum of ten years experience in Group A . Note : Qualifications/Degrees mentioned above only is acceptable and equivalent qualifications are not acceptable. Further, CHA licence holders granted permission to operate under Regulations 15(2) or 16(2) of CHALR-2004 may also submit the applications of their nominated employees/directors/partners possessing the above cited qualification for the said written exam. II. The successful applicants for the written test (to be held on 07/08/2006) should also appear for an oral test to be held subsequently. A candidate who clears the written examination but fails in the oral examination linked to it, shall have to clear the oral examination within two years of the related written examination irrespective of the number of chances, and if he fails to do so, he shall be treated as having failed in the examination. Candidates who appeared for the tests earlier and have failed to clear the written test or oral test are not eligible to appear after 7 years from the date of their first appearance. III. Information regarding Roll Nos. and seating arrangements would be displayed on the notice board of the Personnel Establishment Deptt. (CHA), New Custom House, Mumbai-01 in due course. The application should be furnished in the prescribed format given at Annexure I to this notice for each candidate separately alongwith the photocopy of his Custom Pass duly attested by the Licencee himself and the Educational Qualification Certificate copy should be attested by the Gazetted Officer from Customs. IV. The applications should reach this office latest by 17/07/2006. The application received thereafter will not be entertained under any circumstances. Sd/-(06.07.2006) N.
