Access to registered premises — Empowerment of officers therefor - Service Tax - 4/JSR/2008

Commissioner of Central Excise, Jamshedpur Trade Notice No. 4/JSR/2008- (S.T.) dated 23-1-2008 In exercise of the powers conferred upon me under the provisions of the rule 5A of the Service Tax Rules, 1994 , I hereby empower all Central Excise Officers, not below the rank of Inspector, working in the Central Excise, Jamshedpur, to have access, at all reasonable times to any registered premises of a Service tax assessee, under rule 4 of the rules ibid, for the purpose of carrying out any scrutiny, verification, audit and checks as may be necessary to safeguard the interest of revenue. 2. Further, to the above empowerment, the officers of the rank of Inspector and above posted in the Preventive Branch of the Commissionerate, are empowered to exercise these powers within the entire jurisdiction of the Commissionerate. 3 All Trade Associations/Chambers of Commerce, members of RAC (both organized and SSI) falling within the jurisdiction of the Commissionerate of Central Excise, Jamshedpur are requested to bring the contents of this trade notice to the notice of their constituent members and others concerned.
