Re-organisation of Divisions in Service Tax Commissionerate, Chennai - Service Tax - 5/2008

Commissioner of Service Tax, Chennai Service Tax Trade Notice No. 5/2008 dated 28-2-2008 Further to this office Trade Notices No. 19/2005-ST dated 31-10-2005, 4/2007-ST dated 14-2-2007 and 18/2007-ST dated 31-5-2007, it is hereby notified that Division-II of the Service Tax Commissionerate is being bifurcated into Division-II and Division-V. The jurisdiction of the re-organized Division-II and Division-V is detailed in the Annexure to this trade notice. The re-organization will come into force with effect from 1st March, 2008. Division-II will function at the same address as before and Division-V would start functioning from 1-3-2008 at the below address : OFFICE OF THE ASSISTANT COMMISSIONER OF SERVICE TAX, DIVISION-V, 2nd FLOOR, ANANDA OFFICE CENTRE, 459, ANNA SALAI, TEYNAMPET, CHENNAI - 600 018. 2. All the service providers are advised to mention clearly the new location code Nos. (Commissionerate/Division/Group) in all their documents especially in the GAR-7 challans at the time of payment of Service Tax as also ST-3 returns. The new location codes are given in the Annexure. 3. The service providers may contact the Assistant/Deputy Commissioners concerned in case of any difficulty. They may also contact the Joint Commissioner (Tech) in the Service Tax Commissionerate at : 6th Floor, M.H.U. Complex, 692, Anna Salai, Nandanam, Chennai-35. 5. All the Trade associations are requested to inform their members and trade in general about the contents of this Notice. 6.
