EASIEST — Instructions on proper filling up of GAR-7 Challans - Service Tax - Trade Notice No. 65/2007

Commissioner of Central Excise, Pune-II Trade Notice No. 65/2007 dated 5-12-2007 It has been reported by one of the Commissionerate (Service tax) that while paying the Service tax, a number of assessees are quoting wrong code of Commissionerate in TR-6 and GAR-7 Challans (i.e. code of other Commissionerates) and the banks are feeding this wrong code at the EASIEST System. Accordingly, the Service tax revenue is being credited to other Commissionerate in the EASIEST. Therefore, there is an error in reporting Commissionerate-wise revenue figures. This happens more often when a taxpayer is an assessee, both in Central Excise as well as Service tax. 2. In order to avoid any error of this nature, it is to bring to the notice of the trade and industry that the Commissionerate code of Pune-II Commissionerate is 60 and they are advised to quote correct code of this Commissionerate in their TR-6 / GAR-7 Challans so that the amount of duty/Service tax is credited to account of Pune-II Commissionerate. 3. All the members of Trade Associations and Chambers of Commerce and Industries are requested to bring the contents of the Trade Notice to the notice of their member constituents and convey to them the importance of quoting the correct code no. in their TR6 / GAR-7 Challans.
