Trade Notice No. 44 / 2008 Date : 11.09.2008. Service Tax No. 17 /2008 Sub:- Mandatory e-payment of Central Excise and Service Tax by large taxpayers : Interim accounting arrangement for e-payment collection. Reserve Bank of India has decided in consultation with Central Board of Excise Customs to authorise IDBI Bank to collect Central Excise Duties and Service Tax through e-payment as per the following interim accounting arrangement prescribed by the Board. (a) IDBI Bank may accept e-Payments for all Central Excise and Service Tax Commissionerates without the restriction of Commissionerate-wise authorization. (b) As regards physical collection of CBEC revenue, the existing Commissionerate-wise restriction would continue. (c) For all authorised Commissionerates, IDBI Bank will collect only physical payments through "existing Focal Point Branches". (d) Collection through e-Payment for all Central Excise and Service Tax Commissionerates will be collected at a branch in Chennai for Central Excise Duties and at Mumbai for Service Tax at such CBS branches (identified by IDBI bank ) for scrolling. (e) Reporting to the link cell and fund settlement with Reserve Bank of India will be as per the existing procedure (Commissionerate-wise and Major Head-wise) 2.
