No. S37 (Misc)-01/16 (SOA) Dated : 12.01.2016 PUBLIC NOTICE NO. 05/2016 Attention of Steamer Agents/Importers is invited to the Govt. of India, Ministry of Finance, Notification No. 104/94 dated 16.3.1994. 2. As per the above Notification containers of durable nature are permitted to be imported into India temporarily without payment of Customs duty, on execution of Bond by the steamer agents provided that these containers are re-exported within a period of six months from the date of their importation. Each bond shall specify the number and type of containers likely to be handled by the steamer agents/importers during the period. 3. In view of variation in costs and the prevailing market conditions etc., it has been decided that bonds of the following amount shall be taken for the purpose of executing bonds with immediate effect: 1. 20' Plain Container: ₹ 70,000/- 2. 40' Plain Container: ₹ 1,35,000/- 3. 45' Plain Container: ₹ 1,50,000/- 4. 20' Refer Container: ₹ 2,50,000/- 5. 40' Refer Container: ₹ 4,00,000/- 6. 20' Tank Container: ₹ 4,50,000/- 7. 40' Tank Container: ₹ 6,00,000/- 4. In terms of CBEC Circular No. 31/2005-Cus dated 25 .07.2005, Steamer agents/importers are advised to execute additional bonds for the differential amount i.e. the difference between the old amount and the new amount within one month from the date of issuance of this Notice. 5. The Continuity Bonds executed henceforth with the revised amount shall, inter-alia, contain the following details: (i) The concerned party should intimate to the Customs Container Cell, CH, the number and identification particulars of the containers to be moved outside the Customs area. The bond for such movement should be for specific individual container or a general bond covering a large number of containers. (ii) The importation of containers without payment of duty on furnishing continuity bond will be subject to the condition that the container will be re -exported within six months from the date of their importation. (iii) The concerned Steamer Agent will furnish the evidence of re -export within 30 days from the date of re-export of the container. (iv) In any particular case the aforesaid period of six months may, on sufficient cause being shown, be extended in terms of Circular No. 83/ 98 --Customs dated 05.11.1998 for such further period as may be deemed fit. 6. The instructions contained here-in-above shall be complied with scrupulously. 7. This Public Notice supersedes all previous Public Notices on the subject. sd/- (Dr. N. K.
