Installation of Weigh Bridges at ICD/CFSs/Docks - Customs - 86/2016

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA OFFICE OF THE ASSISTANT COMMISSIONER OF CUSTOMS (PORT) 15/1, STRAND ROAD, CUSTOM HOUSE: KOLKATA-700001 F.No. S155(Misc.)-25/2016 NSD-III Date : 07.10.2016 PUBLIC NOTICE NO. 86/2016 Subject: Installation of Weigh Bridges at ICD/CFSs/Docks As per Regulation 5 of Handling of Cargo in Customs Areas Regulations. 2009 the Customs Cargo Service Providers (CCSP) are, inter-alia, required to provide infrastructure, equipment and adequate manpower for custody and handling of imported or export goods in a Customs area to the satisfaction of the Commissioner of Customs. 2. It was directed by Central Board of Excise Customs vide Circular F.No.450/81/2011 Cus.IV dl.18.8.2011 that CCSPs should have weigh bridges installed at their facilities preferably near the entry/exit gate. The circular also stipulated that all containers must be weighed. Accordingly, this Commissionerate has issued Public Notice No.52/2011 dated 08.09.2011. 3. In this regard, following directions to ICDs/CFSs and Docks in the jurisdiction of this Commissionerate are reiterated: (i) All ICDs/CFSs and Docks under, the Commissionerate should have weigh-bridges installed at the facilities preferably near the exit/entry gate. (ii) The weigh bridges installed should be annually calibrated by Metrological Department. (iii) Separate weighing machine should be installed for goods weighing up to 100kgs. (iv) Weighment of imported and export goods should be done in the presence of Customs officer.
