Consequent upon the recent changes in the Union Budget 2013-14, the following amendments in Section 49 of the Customs Act, 1962, w.e.f. 10.05.2013, are brought to the notice of all Custom Brokers (erstwhile known as Custom House Agents), their Associations, members of trade and others for information and compliance:- 2. The words be permitted to be stored in a public warehouse shall be substituted by the words be permitted to be stored for a period not exceeding thirty days in a public warehouse . 3. The following Proviso has also been added: Provided that the Commissioner of Customs may extend the period of storage for a further period not exceeding thirty days at a time . 4.
