Attention of the Importers, Exporters, General Trade, Port Terminal Operator, Shipping Lines/Shipping Agents, CFSs coming under the jurisdiction of JNCH, Nhava Sheva and all other stakeholders is invited to various other decisions communicated through Public Notices issued from time to time on DPD for smooth clearing of consignments and to reduce dwell time of import. 2. It has been represented by DPD Importers that sometimes, they are facing difficulty in early clearance due to delay in verification of self-assessment under Section 17 of the Customs Act, 1962. 3. Issue has been examined. It is noticed that in the import assessment group, all the Bills of entry are pushed to the screen of Appraising Officer (AO) and come in the single queue. As per the procedure, AO and DC/AC Group are required to complete verification of self-assessment under Section 17 of the Customs Act, 1962 in the same order as Bes are queued on the screen. 4. However, considering the timelines in which DPD importers are required to clear the goods from Port Terminal, it has been decided that AO and DC/AC Group will complete verification of self-assessment in respect of Bill of entry (BE) filed by DPD importers on priority. For that purpose, DPD importers may submit request for priority verification either through email (sent through email id of importer or Customs Broker ) or whatsup or in person TO concerned DC/AC Group. 5. It is expected that AO and DC/AC Group should complete verification of self assessment in respect of all BEs under Section 17 of the Customs Act, 1962 in the most efficient and effective manner in the shortest possible time. Aforesaid system of Priority Verification has been introduced to assist Port Terminals in early evacuation of containers so as to enhance overall speed and efficiency in clearance of DPD consignments. 6. This, issues with approval of the Chief Commissioner of Customs, Mumbai Zone-II, JNCH. Action to be taken in terms of decisions taken in this Public Notice should be considered as standing order for the purpose of officers and staff.
