Export General Manifest (EGM) filing of within time limit - Customs - 24/2005

F.No.EDI-52/2001-CC(ACC) Date:17.10.2005 PUBLIC NOTICE NO. 24/2005 Sub: Export General Manifest (EGM) filing of within time limit Section 41 of Customs Act,1962 envisages filing of EGM by the Airlines before the departure of Aircraft carrying export goods. Airlines are required to deliver EGM in the prescribed form to proper officer as well as file it electronically either through service centre or through ICE- GATE. It has been observed that in respect of large no. of S/Bs, EGMs have not been filed electronically for years together. The representatives of Airlines were requested from time to time to file all such EGMs. However, it is noticed, still a large no. of S/Bs are pending on account of non-filing of EGMs electronically. Secondly, it is observed that in respect of substantial no. of S/Bs there are EGM- error on account of mis-match of no. of packages mentioned in the Airway Bill and S/Bs. Consequently, on account of non-filing of EGMs and on account of EGM-errors, exporters are facing difficulties in getting export benefits. It is reiterated that it is the responsibility of the Airlines to file EGM electronically correctly and without any error within 24 hrs of the departure of the Aircraft in addition to filing of EGM manually before the departure of the Aircraft. In respect of pending S/Bs for the period prior to 15.10.2005, EGM shall be filed by 21st October,2005 . In future it should be ensured that EGMs are filed electronically within 24 hours of the departure of the Aircraft. Any deviation from these instructions will be viewed seriously and penal action would be initiated against the Airlines under the provisions of Customs Act,1962. In order to monitor the timely submissions of EGM s, it has been decided that the Addl. Commr(Exp) will hold meeting with the Airlines in conference room of Air Cargo Complex at 16.00 hrs every Friday. The first meeting would be held at 16.00 hrs on 21st October,2005.
