No. S/3-MISC-PRO-53/2017-18/ACC(I) Date:- 15.01.2018 PUBLIC NOTICE NO. 49/2017 SUB: Data quality of information furnished by the importers for assessment purposes - reg. Attention of all Importers, Customs Brokers, Members of the Trade Industry Associations, Customs Officers and others is invited towards Public Notice No. 28/2010 dated 1 st July, 2010 issued vide file no. S/3-Misc-Pro-195/2010 ACC, wherein it has stressed that the declaration of correct and complete data of import goods in Bill of Entry is essential for speedy assessment and clearance of Import goods, However, it has been noticed that Importers have failed repeatedly to comply the said Public Notice. 2. In view of the same following instructions are being issued for strict compliance: i. It is mandatory for the importers/Custom Brokers to declare full and correct information concerning the goods being imported such as description, brand, model, grade, specification, etc- in the appropriate columns while filing the bill of entry, as the case may be. Further, the unit of quantity declared should be a standard unit. It should be ensured that same unit of quantity is mentioned in which the unit price has been mentioned in the Import Invoice. ii. All concerned sections, i.e., Appraising Groups Import Shed shall verify that all fields in the Bills of Entry, including brand, grades, model specification, unit of quantity, country of origin etc. have been filled correctly by the Importer/Custom Brokers. In all such cases where complete details are not furnished, documents shall be returned for incorporating the same. iii. The product description/quantity should be given in full without any spelling mistake and on abbreviation/acronyms etc. should be used. 3. If this mandatory requirement is not complied by Importer/Custom Broker and he repeatedly fails to furnish the complete details in the documents furnished by him, an appropriate penal action would initiated, which may include suspension of license of Custom Broker, wherever malafide intention is found and/or situation so warrants. 4. Difficulties, if any, faced in the implementation of this Public Notice may brought to the notice of the undersigned. 5. This issues with the approval of the Commissioner of Customs (Import), ACC, Mumbai- (Sukhjit Kumar) Addl. Commissioner of Customs (Import) Air Cargo Complex, Mumbai
