No. 1-1371/FSSAI/ Imports/2015-Part S) issued by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (Imports Division) whereby it is inter-alia stated that test analysis certificates issued by the Bangladesh Standard and Testing Institution (BSTI), Dhaka are to be accepted by the authorities in India dealing n food import, n respect of the items listed in Annexure 1 of the said notification. Copy of the said notification is enclosed for reference. In view of the above, Customs officers posted at LCS5 on the India-Bangladesh border may clear import consignments of such commodities where test analysis certificate issued by BSTI, Dhaka is submitted, without taking recourse to the system of clearance after receipt of test certificate from designated Indian laboratory, provided that the certificate issued by BSTI, Dhaka has been issued for the concerned consignment and invariably indicates the batch nos. etc of the goods in question so that the same can be co-related and clearance given on the strength of the BSTI certificate. In cases where BSTI certificate s not furnished or there is mis-match between the details of the goods brought in for import and the BSTI certificate submitted, the extant procedures shall be followed.
