No. VIII/48-286/Cus/T/2007 Dated: 23.11.2007 PUBLIC NOTICE NO. 65/2007 Sub: Notification u/s 25 of The Cigarettes and other Tobacco Products (Prohibition of Advertisement and Regulation of Trade and Commerce, Production, supply and distribution) Act, 2003 appointment of authorised persons Regarding Attention of all Custom House Agents, Importers, Exporters, Shipping Agents, Members of the Trade and public at large, is invited to Section 4 of the The Cigarettes and other Tobacco Products (Prohibition of Advertisement and Regulation of Trade and Commerce, Production, Supply and Distribution)Act, 2003 , which reads as under :- No person shall smoke in any public place: (Provided that in a hotel having thirty rooms or a restaurant having seating capacity of thirty persons or more and in the air ports, a separate provision for smoking area or space may be made). 2. Further, vide Notification No.S.O.2064 dated 23.07.2007, issued by the Central Board of Excise and Customs, New Delhi, in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 25 of the above mentioned Act, the Commissioner of Customs, Ahmedabad has been authorised to act and implement the provisions of Section 4 of the said Act. 3. Accordingly, all the staff members of all Custom House Agents, Importers, Exporters, Shipping Agents, and Members of the Trade and public at large are here by instructed that they should strictly comply with the above mentioned provisions of Section 4 of the said Act; failing which action may be initiated against the persons violating the provisions of the Act. 4. All the Trade Associations, Chambers of Commerce and Custom House Agents Association are requested to publicize the contents of this Public Notice amongst their members/ constituents, for their information and strict compliance.
