I am directed to invite your attention to the minutes on point No. 1 of the Modvat Meeting held at Coimbatore on 22-1-1991 on the above subject wherein a request had been made by the Trade to lay down some time limit for grant of permission under Rule 57F(2). The matter has been examined. Attention in this regard is invited to instructions issued vide Board's F. No. 263/16/87-CX.8, dated 2-11-1987 wherein a time limit of 7 days has already been laid down by the Board for disposing off applications seeking permission under Rule 57F (2). Board has desired that this time limit be strictly adhered to and all such applications be disposed off immediately. Field formations may be directed accordingly.
