Attention of the Exporters, Customs Brokers and other trading public is invited to various notifications issued by the DGFT and the Central Board of Indirect Taxes Customs regarding export of different varieties of Rice. For ease of reference, the same are consolidated as below : SI No. Item Description ITC HS Code Notification No. Date Issued by Effect of the Notification 1 Basmati Rice 1006 3020 18/2015-2020 DGFT Free subject to APEDA Registration and Grain of rice to be exported shall be more than 6.61 mm of length and ratio of length to breadth of the grain shall be more than 3.5 and other conditions as per Notification. 2 Non - Basmati White Rice 1006 3090 Notification No. 20/2023 dated 20.07.2023 DGFT Export of Non-Basmati white rice is prohibited 3 Broken Rice 1006 4000 Notification No. 31/2015 dated 8.09.2023 DGFT Export of Broken Rice is prohibited 4 Parboiled Rice 1006 3010 49/2023-Cus-dated 25.08.2023 CBIC Levy of Export Duty @20% Adv on FOB value 5 Rice In husk Brown rice 1006 10 1006 20 49/2022-Cus-dated 8.09.2022 CBIC Levy of Export Duty @20% Adv on FOB value 2. From the above, it is clear that export of different varieties of Rice are subject to certain conditions/ prohibitions/ levy of duties. In order to rule out any mis-declaration, it has been decided that export of rice consignments of all varieties shall be subjected to sampling and testing before grant of Let Export Order. 3. Necessary instructions have already been given to ensure that the samples are drawn and test reports are obtained within 48 hours from the Custom House Laboratory. 4. Exporters and Customs Brokers may ensure that. the consignments of Rice meant for export are pre-stacked in the CFSs/Customs area well in advance so that the test reports are obtained before shipment.
