Service tax — Centralisation of Service tax work at Headquarters office of Mumbai-II Commissioner Trade Notice No. 9/General (S.Tax) 1/2001, dated 14-2-2001 of the Mumbai-I Commissionerate Attention of the trade is invited to this office Trade Notice No. 47/M-II/General (8)8/98 dated 24-9-1998 regarding decentralisation of service tax work from Commissionerate Headquarter office to divisional Headquarter. 2. The decentralization of administrative work of service tax divisional headquarter offices has created administrative inconvenience for the department as well as the assessees. 3. In view of above, the matter has been reconsidered by the Board and it has been decided that the service tax work should be administered from headquarters office of the Commissionerate having jurisdiction over metro-cities, keeping in view efficient administration of service tax work as well as convenience of the assessees. Accordingly a service tax cell has been formed in this office to be headed by Addl. Commissioner, Central Excise, who will have his office on the 9th floor of this office. For any difficulties, the trade, in particular the service tax assessee, may contact the Addl. Commissioner, Service Tax and/the Asstt. Commissioner or the Superintendent, Service Tax Cell located at 7th floor, Piramal Chambers, Jijibhoy Lane, Parel, Mumbai-400 012. 4. All the assessees under service tax may file their applications for registration/returns etc., with the above said office. The trade notice shall come into effect from 1-3-2001. 5. All the trade associations are requested to bring the contents of this Trade notice to the notice of all their members constituents in particular and trade in general.
