Instruction regarding Index Cards. - Income Tax - 1463/CBDT

INSTRUCTION NO. 1463/CBDT Dated: March 14, 1982 Attention is invited to para 5 of Board's Circular No. 6-D of 1959 dated 16-4-1959 wherein the Board prescribed a form of Index cards, required to be maintained in each Assistant Controller's office. During the course of enquiries made by the Board in this regard it has been learnt that these index cards are not being maintained in all the charges. 2. The desirability of having a system which could provide useful information of the valuation of agricultural lands cannot be over emphasised. It is, therefore, being reiterated that the index cards should be maintained by every Assistant Controller of Estate Duty. However, for this purpose the proforma of the index card has been modified in order to improve its usefulness. The revised proforma is enclosed. 3. Suitable instructions should be issued to all the Assistant Controllers of Estate Duty working in your charge.
