Disposal & pendency of appeals before AACs. - Income Tax - 1638/CBDT

INSTRUCTION NO. 1638/CBDT Dated: July 12, 1985 Review of telegraphic information regarding disposal and pendency of appeals before AAC's for the month of March, 1985 circulated by DI(IT)-F.No.M-36/27/13/84/DIT, dated 20th May, 1985 shows that out of the total pendency of 2,39,171 appeals, 40634 appeals were those filed upto March, 1982. The pendency includes 43484 High Demand Appeals. These old appeals and the High Demand Appeals must be disposed of by 30th September 1985. You may call for list of the old Appeals and the High Demand Appeals pending with each AAC as on 1st July 1985 and their Action plan in regard to disposal of these appeals by the end of September, 1985. Any default in regard to disposal of these appeals will be seriously viewed. I hope that you will be able to ensure compliance with this instruction.
