Request to H.C. for out of turn hearing of tax cases and constitution of tax benches. - Income Tax - 1656/CBDT

INSTRUCTION NO. 1656/CBDT Dated: October 28, 1985 Please refer to my Instruction No.1632 dated 26th June, 1985 asking you to call on the Chief Justice of the High Court to make a request to him for an out of turn hearing of cases involving important issues. I have not received any feed back from you on this instruction. Finance Minister wants you to call on the Chief Justice of the High Court to make a request to him to constitute Tax Benches on a continuing basis until such time as the pendency is reduced to a reasonable level. At present there is a heavy pendency of tax cases before the high court. Please send me a report on the results of the action taken by you. Your report must reach me by 15th November, 1985 positively.
