Reply to Board references. - Income Tax - 1668/CBDT

INSTRUCTION NO. 1668/CBDT Dated: April 12, 1985 While reviewing the pendency position as contained in the weekly report on the references received from PM/PM's office, the Finance Minister has minuted as below :- "What action is taken against those who do not answer in reasonable time". 2. It has been observed by the Board that reply to references received from PM/PM's Office or for that matter other VIPs, MPs/Ministers, etc. are inordinately delayed by field formations. In this connection it is requested that such references should be accorded "TOP PRIORITY" and every effort should be made to furnish the reply to the Board on such references within a reasonable period of time (7 days or so). 3. It is further emphasised that violation of these instructions will be viewed adversely by the Board and this may attract adverse entry in the character roll of the officer concerned. 4. This may please be brought to the notice of all the officers working in your charge.
